Eugene, OR / May 17, 2021: Established in 2000,The San Francisco World Spirits Competition is among the most respected international spirits competitions, and is the largest event of its kind in the U.S. Judged by leading spirit experts including Anthony Dias Blue, Dale deGroff, Tony Abou-Ganim, and Virginia Miller among others, Puncher’s Chance™ 100% Kentucky Straight Bourbon was awarded a Gold Medal.
The 2021 Competition drew more than 3,000 entries from all corners of the world. Umberto Luchini, the proprietor and founder of Wolf Spirit Distillery as well as creator and owner of Puncher’s Chance™ Bourbon says: “Puncher’s Chance honors the underdog; the name abbreviates the fact that no matter what the odds, you always have the chance to win. As an independent craft Bourbon, we are very proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with both our brethren and multinationals.”
Puncher’s Chance™ is inspired by two great American traditions: whiskey, and fighting for what we believe in. A marriage of 4-, 5-, and 6-year-old Kentucky Straight bourbons, it leads with caramel, spicy, slightly sweet, and creamy vanilla notes. The palate shows complex oaky sweetness alongside orange, dark chocolate, leather, and baking spices. The finish is long with sweet maple and sugar notes. A “pandemic baby,” Puncher’s Chance™ was strong right out of the gate, shipping nearly 10,000 6-bottle cases and 30 Private Barrels at cask strength (115- 122 proof) in its first four months of sales.
